Misuse and Abuse of Powers of Attorney
By CE Corner
This course provides an exploration of the ethical challenges financial planners face when dealing with powers of attorney, particularly when protecting vulnerable clients from financial abuse. Using real-world examples and case studies and making specific reference to FP Canada’s updated Standards of Professional Responsibility, the course brings to life the complexities of managing powers of attorney, highlighting key responsibilities, warning signs of abuse, and available legal remedies.
In the opinion of CE Corner, the content of this session aligns with FSRA’s requirements for Life and Accident & Sickness credits. However, it remains the responsibility of the individual license holder to check FSRA credits and confirm suitability.
